I've known this guy since I started uni (hes on my course). I've fancied him since I started talking to him on our first day of first year and we're now in second year. We talk everyday, usually online and sometimes we're talking for hours (from the afternoon til 3-4am). We sit together in lectures and are always together in our free time at Uni. Hes done the things like touching my arm, nudging me when he's making a joke, making eye contact when we're talking, 'accidentally' touching hands when we're passing something between each other...once, we even made eye contact when neither of us were saying anything and just looked at each other for a few seconds before smiling and turning away...but I don't know if I'm just reading more into these things because I like him so much. How can I tell if he likes me as "just good friends" or as more than that? What are the tell-tale signs?

Close friends can display these signals, and because you have known each other for a long time you can be classed as close friends. But to me, if I was having that good a time with a woman and feeling so comfortable in that woman's company I would be seriously fancying her by now. Even if I didn't fancy her at first, spending so much time together and having such a good time, I would want to spend the rest of my life with them.
The problem is you have been friends for a long time and are very good friends. It becomes more risky for both of you to make a move, because you don't want to lose one hell of a good friendship.
You have got to try and get in those close positions as often as possible. You need to get in more intimate positions, for example: He is sat at a table, you need to grab something off that table, lean over him, touch him, brush him, look into his eyes, make a joke and talk to him while you are doing it. Eventually you will come across a point where your eyes meet then your lips move together. But you have to put yourself in those positions.
You have got to give him access to intimate parts of you body, make it clear to him, you don't mind him touching you. For example you might have cold arms, get him to feel your arms, you might have an unusual bra made from unusual material, if you are in a private place you could say to him, this bra feels funny, see if he offers to feel it, if he doesn't say here feel it.
