I hope you can help me. I’ve fallen in love with an unhappily married man at work, 11 years older than me. He would always give me nice smiles and once we even gazed at each other for a while. He left to go overseas about four months ago and I didn’t have any contact with him until a few days ago. I sent him a brief friendly email, asking him if he is enjoying his new job and if he has settled in. He replied saying ‘Good to hear from you’ and a little about his job and then he ended it with ‘Hope all is well for you. Take care.’ He didn’t ask any questions, does this mean he doesn’t want to communicate further? I think this is an indication that he was pleased to receive an email from you "Good to hear from you". He really does care about you "Hope all is well for you". And I don't really want to get into an email conversation with you because I prefer chatting to people in person "Take care". The fact that he didn't ask any questions supports the fact that he doesn't want an email conversation. There is no benefit to him communicating with you from such a distance because he won't get any prize anytime soon (getting to see you in the flesh). So in summary he will want to hear from you every now and then, but he won't want to be bouncing emails backwards and forwards between you both.
